I’m Jasmine Angelique — a TCM practitioner, naturopath, and integrative medicine specialist who has been practising in Barcelona for over 7 years. I was born in Serbia into a medical family (my father a dual-doctorate primarius, my mother a cardiologist) and I trained in medicine before specialising in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I work in English, Spanish, and Catalan.

If you’re an expat in Barcelona looking for acupuncture that is evidence-based, clinically rigorous, and delivered in English — this is what I do.

Acupuncture in Barcelona with an English-speaking practitioner typically costs between €75–€90 per session. Initial consultations, which include a full TCM diagnostic assessment, run 75–90 minutes. Follow-up sessions are 45–60 minutes. Most conditions that respond well to acupuncture — chronic pain, stress, insomnia, burnout — show measurable improvement within 3–6 sessions.

What I treat

My clinical focus is on conditions where the evidence for acupuncture is strongest and where I see the most consistent results in practice:

  • Chronic pain — neck, back, headaches, joints, tendinopathies
  • Stress, anxiety, burnout — including executive and workplace burnout
  • Insomnia — both difficulty falling asleep and early-morning waking
  • Digestive issues — IBS, bloating, functional disorders
  • Sports recovery — injury rehabilitation, performance maintenance
  • Hormonal regulation — cycle irregularity, perimenopause, fatigue

What makes this different from a generic wellness clinic

Most acupuncture clinics in Barcelona offer a standard needle session and send you home. My approach is different in three ways.

Clinical precision. I use TCM diagnostics — pulse, tongue, detailed case history — to identify the specific pattern driving your symptoms, not just the symptom itself. Two people with chronic back pain often have different underlying TCM patterns requiring different protocols.

Laser acupuncture option. I offer laser acupuncture — the same meridian points, zero needles. Equally effective for most conditions and ideal if you’re needle-averse or simply prefer it.

Honest assessment. If I don’t think acupuncture is the right tool for your situation, I’ll tell you in the first session.

Case study: Elena, CEO — operating from power, not pressure

Elena came to me exhausted by chronic performance pressure. She understood her stress intellectually; she couldn’t resolve it physiologically. One Apex Jump session identified the specific pattern — she described the shift immediately afterwards: “First time I feel I’m operating from a place of power instead of constant pressure.”

For expat executives dealing with burnout or sustained high-load stress, this is precisely the clinical area where TCM works fastest and most measurably. Read more on the executive burnout recovery approach at medicinacinese.ch.

A TCM practitioner in Barcelona assesses each patient through pulse diagnosis (reading 28 distinct pulse qualities), tongue examination, and a full symptom intake. This diagnostic process identifies patterns of imbalance — not just isolated symptoms — and produces a personalised treatment protocol. The first session includes both assessment and treatment. Most patients notice a change in sleep quality or muscle tension within 48 hours of the first acupuncture treatment.

What the evidence says

I work where TCM and modern science overlap. The NCCIH (US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health) recognises acupuncture for chronic low back pain, osteoarthritis, and migraine prevention. A meta-analysis of nearly 18,000 patients found acupuncture significantly outperforms sham treatment for chronic pain. A 2025 systematic review confirmed its efficacy for neck pain specifically.

I don’t ask you to take this on faith. I track outcomes. If the treatment isn’t working by session 3, I say so.

In-person and online

I see patients in person in Barcelona. For expats who travel frequently or want to continue treatment while abroad, I offer full online consultations: TCM assessment, herbal protocols, and lifestyle coaching are all available remotely. Laser and needle acupuncture require in-person sessions.
